******** session05 ******** Q: I’m seem to be having trouble running the eigenvalue analysis files from session05 A: Please fix the intentional bug on line 211 of ESP/viewVLM.udc. Uncomment the line: #ATTRIBUTE capsAIM vlmAIMs Q: You show several instances of an AVL input file. Do we need to write these? A: No. CAPS generates the AVL input files for you. Q: What does “All in with dimensional units” mean? A: AVL requires all inputs to be dimensional for an Eigenvalue analysis; geometry and analysis inputs Q: Theoretically, the mass properties 'could' be associated with the geometry correct? via OUTPMTR's? A: If you can compute the desired mass properties in a csm script then yes. However, OpenCSM can only compute geometric properties, e.g., area, volume, isotropic CG. Q: Slide 22: If you "hardcode" CG for instance, and then change the shape/size/scale of the component on the airplane, will it then break? Or are those values you showed output from an analysis of the current configuration? Can the be generated by masstran? A: In this example you have to manually ensure the component CG locations are consistent with the Bodies generated with the OpenCSM file. The masstranAIM could be used to compute all the mass properties instead of using hard coded values as is shown in the next example.
